Here's a rough idea of pricing for installation of different James Hardie sidings on your home. Total costs include siding materials, required trim, site preparation, protection of plants and other exterior items, and all labor for installation and site clean up. Pricing varies based on the type of siding and trim that you choose, type and condition of your current siding, if scaffolding is needed for installation, and how many windows, doors, and other cut-outs your house has. The pricing that appears below is based on total square footage—length times height—of the area to be covered, and takes into account the average number of cut-outs needed for a typical home, accounting for material waste and installation labor.
HardiePlank lap siding is the most popular brand of siding in America. All styles are Engineered for Climate® and come primed or with baked-on ColorPlus® Technology. Installed cost for the primed siding ranges from approximately $10 per square foot to $14 per square foot. The curated ColorPlus line provides the look of wood with a beautiful and uniform, weather-resistant color, and costs about 30% to 35% more, but requires no painting after installation.
HardiePanel Vertical Siding (also called Board and Batten Siding)
HardiePanel vertical siding is unique without being too trendy. Crisp, clean lines make it a smart choice for strong, contemporary homes. Installed cost ranges from about $12 per square foot to $16 per square foot for the primed siding. The curated ColorPlus line costs about 35% more, but requires no painting after installation.
While shingles are most often associated with Cape Cod-style homes, they can add instant character to any style home, especially in the San Francisco Bay Area. This siding provides the distinct look of cedar shingles with significantly less maintenance and dramatically increased life. Installed costs are approximately 30% to 35% more than the other sidings, as materials and labor costs are higher.
The Artisan collection is for those looking for more architectural interest and detail. It's a thicker siding, offering gorgeous, deep shadow lines and extra thick boards. Artisan lap siding and trim will set your home apart. Installed costs range from about $14 per square foot to $18 per square foot for the primed siding, and about 30% to 35% more for ColorPlus technology.
