The warm weather is approaching and we all are wanting to spend a little more time outside. Is your patio a comfortable place to read a book or entertain company? If not, these tips will help you get your patio looking like a backyard haven in no time!

Clean Your Patio

Use a duster or broom to clear out cobwebs all around the rafters and beams of your porch. If you left furniture outside this winter, use a vacuum to get any big debris that has accumulated. To clean off the rest, put warm water in a spray bottle, then add a squirt of dish soap (be sure to add the soap after to avoid lots of suds) and gently shake and squirt the bottle to get the soap mixed in. Spray your patio furniture and follow it up with a damp rag. (But a dirty house won’t do with your pretty patio, so don’t forget the rest of your spring cleaning!)

Spruce Up Your Furniture

If your patio furniture is looking a little drab and dingy, consider painting it! Choosing bright colors will create an inviting space and help make your patio pop.

Add Potted Plants

Give your patio some life and color with some potted flowers. Choose large and colorful pots to increase the overall aesthetic of your space. Varying the pot size and flower type will keep the visual aesthetic attractive and pleasant.

Create Some Private Space

If your yard is close to your neighbors, you may want to create some privacy around your patio by hanging some curtains or putting up lattice or wood panel siding.

Light It Up

Add a cozy ambiance to your backyard oasis with some mood lighting. Place tiki torches around the outside of your patio or hang little lanterns from the beams of your pergola. If you’d like to make your own, simply place some tea lights inside mason jars. For different hued light, play around with different glass tints for your jars.
