Autumn is upon us. The leaves are changing, football is in full swing, and the crisp cool nights have returned, so it’s time to help your home resemble this lovely harvest season. By decorating your home’s exterior for Fall, you’ll easily boost its curb appeal for the whole season.

Adding just a touch of harvest themed decor to your front door, porch, or yard will create an inviting and festive feel to your home from now until Thanksgiving. If you’re not into Halloween decorations, these touches of fall decor are a great alternative to celebrate the whole season instead.

Decorate your front door with a Fall wreath. There are numerous designs and styles for Autumn wreaths. Choose one that fits your family and your home’s style. Make it yourself or do it as a family project. Collect materials like burlap, artificial sunflowers and leaves, and anything else you may like from an arts and crafts store like Jo-Ann Fabrics or Michaels. Find a design pattern you’d like to follow and have fun with it! If you’re not a crafty person, skip the project and shop around at home decor stores for the wreath you want. Check out Peninsula Siding Company’s Pinterest for more styles and ideas.

If you love your wreath and want to keep going with your exterior home decor feel free to decorate your porch as well. Putting a few key items on your front stoop can be all your house needs to say “Welcome!” However, if you go overboard with your decorations, it’ll look cluttered and much less inviting. So be selective when choosing your decorations. Consider using a combination of pumpkins, rustic lanterns, hay bales, corn stalks or any other harvest-themed items you may have around the house or in the shed.

Maybe your house doesn’t have a front porch or it’s not facing the street. In this case, decorate your mailbox for your mail carrier and neighbors to see. Add corn stalks to the post or decorative fall leaves over the top. Use ribbon or burlap to add an autumn bow. It doesn’t take much to get a great harvest look.

Make the most of this opportunity to give your home’s exterior an easy and instant upgrade. Use this season to boost your curb appeal and create a festive first impression for passers-by.
